A tall standing figure carved in the refined, densely decorated style characteristic of Bena Lulua sculpture. The calm, composed face features arched brows, closed or downcast eyes, and fine cross-hatch scarification patterning on the cheeks — with a small pale element visible held in the mouth, likely representing kaolin (white clay), a substance closely associated with spiritual protection and ritual power in Bena Lulua tradition. The elongated neck leads to a torso where both hands rest at the hips, a characteristic pose in this sculptural tradition, with the figure standing on slightly bent legs atop a rounded base. Fine incised scarification and body decoration continue across the torso and buttocks, visible clearly from the rear. The wood carries a rich, dark patina throughout, with a visible fine age crack running down the length of the torso — disclosed here for transparency, consistent with genuine old wood rather than damage.
