A striking carved wood mask in the style of the Chokwe (Tshokwe) peoples of Angola, DR Congo, and Zambia, depicting an idealized female ancestral face — known traditionally as pwo or mwana pwo. These masks were danced by initiated men during mukanda ceremonies to embody feminine grace and ancestral beauty.

The mask features a tall, domed coiffure with a central ridge flanked by textured, cross-hatched hair lobes, a pale ochre band at the hairline, gently arched brow ridges, narrow closed eyes, and a refined heart-shaped face tapering to a pointed chin — hallmarks of the classic Chokwe aesthetic ideal.

Details of the piece:
- Height: 30 cm
- Material: Carved wood, pigmented (dark and reddish-brown patina with cream/ochre highlights)
- Style: Chokwe / Lunda-Lwena region, Central Africa
- Condition: age-consistent wear, any cracks/losses
- Origin note: Sold in the stylistic tradition of Chokwe ceremonial masks; exact age and workshop attribution not certified

A compelling decorative piece for collectors of African tribal art.
