A cast bronze/brass head in the Ife style of Nigeria, featuring a spiked finial rising from a banded coiffure at the crown. The face is densely covered in fine vertical incised striations across the forehead, cheeks, and chin, with almond-shaped eyes, a straight nose, and pierced ears. The reverse shows a ridged coiffure band running down the back of the head. The surface has a warm bronze patina with lighter oxidized highlights throughout.
Ife bronze/brass casting is renowned for its naturalistic royal and commemorative heads; this smaller-scale piece, with its dense surface striation, may represent a related but distinct ceremonial or votive form rather than the classic smooth-faced Ife head type.
