The tribal piece:
A tall, elegantly elongated standing figure carved in the refined style associated with Senufo sculpture. The head is topped with a tall, pointed coiffure, framing a calm, composed face with closed or downcast eyes, arched brows, and a small open mouth revealing carved teeth. The neck is long and columnar, leading to an elongated torso with pendant breasts marking the figure as female. The arms extend down with a raised ring detail at the wrists, hands meeting together low at the pubic area. The legs are notably elongated and slender, tapering down to a solid rectangular base that grounds the composition. Deep, dark patina throughout, with lighter wear at points of handling.
